Here’s a little peek at some of the tangible changes we’ve made to the space - proof of all the hard work that’s gone into bringing it to life. I wanted to share this update especially for those of you overseas or following along from afar who’ve asked to see how things are coming together. I’ve been a bit slow posting on Instagram since opening (turns out running a restaurant is full-on!), but I promise I’ll catch up soon.
We worked with Lisa Renilson on the interiors, and she really helped bring our vision to life. This was Lisa’s first time designing a restaurant - her background is in home interiors but she jumped in with so much care, attention to detail, and calm confidence. Even at the eleventh hour, when we were tempted to rush decisions just to get the place open, Lisa held firm on making sure the small things were done properly.
We actually met Lisa through one of Mattie’s private cheffing jobs, she had beautifully designed the house, and the family were kind enough to connect us when we suddenly found ourselves without an interiors team (if you’ve read previous newsletters, you’ll know the saga). We’re so glad they did. Thank you Lisa! You were such a steady hand.
All the beautiful photos in this newsletter are by Harriet Langford, who I first worked with back in my St. JOHN days. Harriet is endlessly talented and somehow managed to capture the warmth and feel of the space even while we were still finishing bits off behind the scenes. She took these photos in the middle of what was basically a semi-active building site… magic.
We really enjoyed our visit to Gina last week. Aside from the excellent food it was great to see the final result of all your planning and deliberations in real life - a stylish, warm and inviting dining space! Also just to say we would never have guessed the restaurant had only been opened a week with a new team as everything appeared smooth, seamless & efficient. It was lovely to meet you too & we look forward to returning in the future.
